Dashboard

I made a dashboard with a Kindle I wasn’t using. The jailbreak I used was from MobileRead. Currently, I have it showing the time, date, current weather, and a real-time bus schedule for West Mall.

Dashboard showing the time, weather, and bus schedule

Because space is tight, the bus schedule is not self-explanatory. The top two rows represent the northbound station, and the bottom two, southbound. The thick vertical lines represent departing in: 0, 5, 10, 15, and 20 minutes. There are two rows for each direction because there are so many buses during peak service times that they wouldn’t all fit on a single row.

I’ll probably add more information about the weather, like a 3-day forecast or Air Quality Index. If I get my hands on a second Kindle, I might put a to-do list or calendar on that one.

The operating system time and battery indicators are still being updated. Often, the white background of the dashboard is drawn over them, but sometimes they are still visible. For example, the picture above was taken after the operating system time indicator had updated (visible in the upper left corner), but before the dashboard had updated. This is a little annoying, but the indicators are small, don’t overlap with the dashboard, and are rarely visible, so I’m not motivated to fix it.
